Jim is an overseas member, based in upstate New York, he models in HO and OO scales.
Oxford / Whiskey River / Cheshire / LNER
Jim has started work on a model of his local station, alas long gone, on the Ontario and Western Railway. He writes "I have ordered some of the last(?) buildings for the station area. The rest will have to be scratch built. These include the 2 stations and the station coal trestle. The only kits out thre are for section houses and milk pickup platforms. Creameries and ice houses are made in kit form, but they didn't exist in Oxford. Still need to acquire a derail (out of stock) for the trestle siding, but it looks like I will be able to start construction this week. Have vehicles on hand, mostly horse drawn, with a few motorized. There weren't many cars around 1915 at least not in Oxford."
The "2 stations" that Jim mentions are passenger and freight. What we in England would refer to as the station and goods shed.
Jim is building a shunting layout, it will be named Whiskey River RR. Leaning toward a double Inglenook type setup. One feeding the other. Time setting is flexible ..1930's to 1950. This could change if more space becomes available. Now it is small steam. 2-6-0, 4-4-0 or tankers ..2-6-0T, 2-8-0T
Jim's Whiskey River RR freight car seen here on Bob's Port Abel layout. The boxcar was sent across the ocean to take part in a photographic tour of British layouts, it is common for American modellers to exchange cars but we believe this is a rare example of long distance HO scale freight traffic! More pictures of the visiting boxcar.

Jim has built a small diorama of a steam era American station, initially for use as a photo set but possibly for inclusion on a layout at a later date.

The station is named 'Cheshire' in honour of the Cheshire Railway Modellers on-line modelling club, but there is also a creek of the same name near to Jim's home town.
