John Marsden

Marsdenby

Marsdenby is John's first attempt at railway modelling, he says -

"Bob persuaded me to have a go after many discussions in the pub. The idea being that when we eventually get the village hall up and running it would be nice to put on a modelling or general hobby show as a fund raiser. I thought I'd try something unusual, hence the 1830's. I have been concentrating on assembling a fleet of suitable trains to run on it, some ready to run, some kitbashed and some scratch built. Motive power ranges from the well known "Rocket" (showing various rebuilds that the prototype underwent) to a horse drawn coal train, actually driven by a motorised cauldron wagon with the horse on wire traces."

Work on the layout itself is well under way. The main baseboard is proving quite heavy, even before scenic work starts, so the layout is going to be transportable rather than portable.
