Several local model railway clubs have websites that you can visit to find out about their activities.
Alsager in the south of the county has a large catchment area and they hold a show each November, usually in either Alsager or Crewe.
Calder Northern is a division of the National Model Railroad Association (NMRA) British Region. The group's meetings in Crewe are listed on the linked webpage. Mike Lenz is CRM's resident Calder Northern representative and can be contacted via our forum or by email.
Cheadle Hulme one of the smallest, and also the newest, model railway club in the Stockport area. Contact details are given on their website and enquiries from any active modellers in the area are invited.
Chester has several club layouts and is a long established club.
Crewe originally model engineers but now almost exclusively a model railway group, this society was established in 1945 and is one of the oldest in the country. The club has a large OO scale layout.
Hazel Grove is one of several clubs in the Stockport area and holds a well attended exhibition annually.
Macclesfield have recently moved to new premises, the club has layouts in various scales and hosts one of the major exhibitions in the county.
Manchester covers a wide area, but their headquarters are in Sale so they are included in the Cheshire clubs listing. They have extensive clubroom facilities and hold their annual exhibition in the city centre each October.
Mid Cheshire Model Railway Society are based in Winsford which makes them within easy travelling distance for much of the county. Their clubroom is home to OO and O gauge layouts though their members also have interests in other scales.
New Mills is just over the border in Derbyshire, but is classed as part of the Stockport area. This club holds an annual exhibition of their own each February and attends other local shows too.
Stockport and District Railway Modellers hold their annual show at Stockport Grammar School. The club meets regularly at Stockport Grammar School. New members are welcomed, please make initial contact via the website if you are interested in visiting or joining the group.
Romiley Methodist Railway Modellers meet each Wednesday at romiley Methodist Church, where they also hold their annual show in September. The group have varied interests and several layouts.
Warrington is another well established club with an exhibition held in the town each year.
Wirral and North Wales (formerly Buckley and District) meet twice a week at their clubrooms in Neston. The club have OO and N scale layouts and would welcome prospective members on Tuesday or Thursday evenings.
Wirral Finescale Railway Modellers are a group who take their layouts to shows all over the country and also provide demonstrations of their workmanship.
