Alsager Toys and Models. General toy and hobby shop, fair range of new and second hand model railway equipment.
 
Arcadia Rail. Located in Shaw (near Oldham) Arcadia Rail provide for both the personal caller and the on-line shopper. A good range of British and European models in various scales.
 
Bromsgrove Models. Good on-line ordering and prompt mail order service.
 
C+L Finescale.  Specialist supplier of model railway track components.
 
Cheshire Model Supplies. Located in Shaw Heath (Stockport) this is a general model shop rather than a model railway specialist. They have a limited stock of basic Hornby products but do carry a good range of the locally produced Javis scenic products.
 
Back 2 Bay 6. Garden and other large scale railway speciallists. Also organiser and sponsor of the Telford Narrow Gauge and Lincoln Garden Railway shows.
 
Barrie Green Models. Based in Bridlington, East Yorkshire, but trading by mail order and at shows around the country. Second hand trains, die cast and buildings available. No website, please use email for mail order enquiries.
 
BR Lines. Bob Russell is an N gauge spares and repairs specialist. Also handy when working in OO9 or HOe.
 
EDM Models. Specialising in narrow gauge - Model building, kit manufacture, rolling roads and imported  models.

Geoscenics - Warrington. Authentic railway ballast and 'scatter' products. This Cheshire based manufacturer supplies many different grades of crushed stone for ballast and scenic work in various scales.

Karen Rush Art Studios. Karen creates birds and small animals to order in any scale. Made from clay these beautiful models are hand painted, each one being unique. Karen is based in Widnes, Cheshire, and has no website so please email with your enquiries and requests.

M G Sharp. Sheffield based shop specialising in imported models.
 
Mike's Joinery Ltd. Moreton, Wirral, Cheshire. Bespoke sheds and loft conversions for that extra modelling room. (Mike is a CRM member)
 
Model Railway Buildings. This firm is based in Ipswich, Suffolk and supplies a range of castings in OO and G scales designed for the transition area just in front of the backscene on model railway layouts.
 
Model Rail Structures. A Canadian company specialising in quality HO & N scale structures and details for Model Railroaders.
 
MRE Based in Water Eaton, just outside Milton Keynes, this model railway and slot car racing dealer also specialises in mail order.

Mr Rails. Hand held and baseboard mounted steam and diesel sound units, ideal for small layouts in small scales.
 
Nick Tozer, Railway Books. Good quality railway books bought and sold. Free railway book search service.
 
Norman Wisenden. A wide range of models and books available from the shop or by mail order.

Treemendus - Scenic materials. Based in Sale this is another local manufacturer with modelling products that we are pleased to endorse.
 
UK Modelshops. An internet based directory of suppliers and much more.
 
Unit Models. Dave Hewitt has a variety of cast resin kits and accessories in O, OO, HO and N scales. Ranging from wagon loads to loco conversion kits to complete buildings. Trading at model railway shows (attendances listed on the website) and by mail order.
 
Woodland Scenics. Well known supplier of scenic materials.

Model railway magazines etc.

The model railway hobby is well served by a collection of magazine and on-line publications.

British Railway Modelling  In depth product news and reviews. Layout features that can only inspire, supported by the best in railway modelling photography.

Hornby Magazine  The name suggests that this publication would be interested primarily in the products of a single company, but this is not the case and the magazine offers a wide range of articles and reviews.

Model Railway Express (MREmag) features model railway news, model railway product reviews and book reviews. The website is updated daily as the news, review models and books are received.

Model Rail  This site will keep you up-to-date with all the latest Model Rail news, limited edition offers, competitions,  subscription offers and whats coming up in the next issue.

Model Trains International  The model railway magazine written and edited by railway modellers. News of the latest issue, sample articles and a catalogue of back issues.

Narrow Gauge and Shortline Gazette   The Narrow Gauge & Shortline Gazette is packed with how-to articles and features of interest to model railroaders. High quality photographs accompany feature articles of model railroad layouts each month. Some of these are featured in our photo gallery.

Rail Express  Prototype and model information in one combined lively magazine.

Railway Modeller is the well known and popular long running magazine serving the British railway modelling hobby. Sister magazine Continental Modeller deals with modelling overseas railways. 

Model Railways On Line, Train Lines News and Trains On Line are on line magazines covering a wide range of modelling subjects. The websites carry articles and reviews in addition to links to clubs, retailers and manufacturers.

The Railway Herald, a free weekly newspaper devoted to the prototype railway. Available weekly in PDF format it features articles on Network Rail and heritage railways together with archive photos. Back issues also available.

The Railway Channel is an on-line TV channel with a different programme each day.

Small Layout Scrapbook is a monthly e-zine exclusively featuring model railway layouts for those with no room for an "empire in the attic".

Transport Models is an on-line library featuring maritime, road, air, rail and military transport. A useful source of inspiration and information.
