Mid Cheshire Model Railway Society
Introduction | Mouldsworth | Agglesdale | Dinas | Crofton
The Mid Cheshire Model Railway Society is a long established organisation and has recently moved to new clubrooms based in Winsford. This makes them easily accessible from much of the county due to their central location.
The new premises are excellently suited for model railway club use, having two large rooms for the layouts and smaller areas available for a meeting room/canteen and storage of materials. The building has been extensively renovated by both the landlord and the club bringing it up to the required standards.
The group have four layouts, two OO scale and two O scale. Each scale having a single fiddleyard which is common to both layouts This saves a lot of space in the clubroom as both OO and both O layouts share not only their respective fiddleyards but also the 180 degree curves at each end. The OO layout uses the upstairs room and the O scale is downstairs, both rooms being approximately 40ft long and 25ft wide.
The Mid Cheshire Model Railway Society meets on Monday evenings but members can work on the layouts at other times too as they have exclusive use of the clubrooms.

It is only logical that the Mid Cheshire Model Railway Society should model the Mid Cheshire route of the Cheshire Lines Committee. The group have an accurate model of Mouldsworth from the junction to the viaduct including the passenger station and a typically sprawling country goods yard. The model is instantly recognisable to anyone who knows the area even though the present day scene does not feature quite so much operational railway. The layout needs a little renovation following the move from Northwich to Winsford and some alterations are being made to the ends to fit the new premises but it is otherwise in excellent condition and is a truly amazing piece of modelling.
