Cheshire Railway Modellers

On-line Model Railway Club

Virtual & Conventional Model Railway Exhibitions

Much of the joy of this hobby is in sharing our creations with others through model railway exhibitions, usually held over a weekend in a hired venue, or through club open nights where the layouts are on public display at the host club's own premises. We held our first exhibition at The Railway Age in Crewe on Sunday 27th of January 2008. This exhibition was a momentous occasion for our club and has its own photo gallery on the website. It is unusual, if not unique, for an on-line group such as Cheshire Railway Modellers to stage a true exhibition with the members gathering together and displaying their layouts to the general public. A concentration of members in the south of Cheshire made the event easier to organise but we had attendances with layouts from members as widespread as Northamptonshire and Gwynedd, Worcestershire and Yorkshire.

We raised a sum of £1,517.00 for the two charities we had decided to support. This equates to two equal shares of £758.50, one for St. Luke's Cheshire Hospice and one for Crewe Heritage Centre.

Our Virtual Model Railway Exhibition is always open!

Another way of exhibiting our handiwork is the virtual model railway exhibition, hosted via the internet. This is an obvious medium for Cheshire Railway Modellers, as an on-line club, to adopt. Our virtual exhibition is free to enter, and always open. Several of these layouts are available for conventional exhibitions but even those firmly fixed at home can be displayed on these pages.
