Cheshire Layouts Railway
We are building a modular display to exhibit at our show on 25th January 2009. This will consist of individual vignette scenes, each independent from the adjoining baseboards, which will be assembled as a single layout. Each component of the modular assembly will be judged by all the exhibitors and traders at the show and a small prize awarded to the one voted best. To date (26th April) we have declared entries for the assembled layout from John Teal, Andrew Milner, Bill Chesney, John Marsden, Chris Gilbert and myself. With possible contributions from Chris's friend Nick and one of my neighbours.

That gives us a possible eight modules in the assembled layout so far, plus overseas member Ward Stolk's entry by photographs as he cannot attend the show.

If you are already a member and would like to enter a module please visit the Bookends Competition on our forum. If you are not a member yet but consider the modular layout to be a good idea why not join us and build your own part of the layout to be exhibited at Crewe next January? Even if you cannot get to Crewe for the show we may be able to arrange for your entry to be collected and returned to you after the event.

A new page has been added to the website giving details of our next exhibition. This appears in the navigation bar at the top of each page or can be accessed via this link.

A second new page has also been added to the website for the modular club layout which is under construction. This can be found via the navigation bars at the top of each page. This new page is intended as a permanent feature to last after the Bookends competition closes and show details of the layout which will then be available for exhibitions.

We now have a 'How To' page, Tips and Techniques, where our members may share ideas and methods of model railway construction or operation. Features for inclusion on this page are welcome. Please post in the Transshipment Shed section of the forum.

The Virtual Model Railway Exhibition's public access index now concentrates on our own members' layouts. The galleries of photographs taken at exhibitions are still available to members and the index for these can be found on the newsletter page.

New Logo

Alert regulars may have noticed slight changes to the logo at the head of our website. We now have a Cheshire wheatsheaf emblem to the centre of the flag.

A steam version is available in addition to the diesel. Please feel free to copy these logos to apply to the front of exhibition layouts or make name badges for use at model railway functions, the steam version is currently in use as the website logo.
